Weight Management Designed Responsibly
Although balancing hormones can improve the chances for maintaining an optimal weight, we can also discuss additional weight loss options. Intentional Weight Management Program offers customized plans to help adult patients achieve and maintain weight loss.
The plans may include weight loss techniques, dietary changes, exercise programs and behavior modifications, as well as support groups and educational lectures. Research has shown that combining a variety of weight loss and management techniques increases an individual’s chance of long-term success. Our goal is to help you adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Our team consists of two Board Certified Nurse Practitioners and a Registered Nurse with special training in Integrative Health with focus on Metabolic Health.
FDA-approved weight loss medications such as Semaglutide and Tirzepatide can be prescribed for appropriate candidates. If your primary care physician has indicated you have a condition that requires weight loss, this may be a solution for you.
Semaglutide
Semaglutide is a modified molecule our bodies make, called a GLP-1 analog. It works by increasing insulin production and lowers glucagon secretion as well as targets areas in the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. A small change in the molecule allows the drug to last weeks in our bodies rather than the natural version our bodies make, which lasts minutes. It has been used by healthcare providers for over 15 years to treat type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide is administered through a weekly subcutaneous injection.
Semaglutide acts in the following ways:
• Delays how quickly our stomachs digest food. Leading to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes.
• Slows intestinal motility so you will feel fuller longer after meals.
• Lowers blood sugars, in part by reducing the production of sugar in the liver.
• Stimulates insulin secretion by the pancreas.
Benefits of semaglutide include:
• Decreased appetite and reduced cravings
• Weight loss Improved blood glucose control.
• Reduced risk of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease in people who are obese or overweight.
Tirzepatide
Tirzepatide is once-weekly injectable dual glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist. It works by increasing insulin production and lowers glucagon secretion as well as targets areas in the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. A small change in the molecule allows the drug to last weeks in our bodies rather than the natural version our bodies make, which lasts minutes.
